About Us

We are Martijn en Joyce van Oudheusden and we live with Jambo and Jinaki and Rusty
in Velden. That's a small village in the south of Holland.   
In the summer of 2005 we dicided, we want a dog in our live.
Martijn immediatly said, that he want's a Rhodesian Ridgeback.
Joyce never heard of this breed.
After a lot of searching on the internet and reading some books,
Joyce became also very interessted in this breed.
So we visited a breeder.
After that we where sure, that we want a Rhodesian Ridgeback.

And that's how Jambo came into our lives.
After 1 year we where thinking about a second ridgeback.
This time we wanted a bitch.

We have searched 6 months for a combination we liked.
And we found it. Jinaki was born in march 2007.

With Jinaki's we had different plans.
We wanted to show her at some dogsshows.
Well some shows, became a lot of shows and the start of a new hobby.

And out of this hobby, became a dream. A dream to be
a rhodesian ridgebackbreeder ourself.
So we started to work that plan out, and searched for a nice
name for our kennel.
And after all the paperwork, our kennel
Hidaya Rhodesian Ridgebacks was born in 2008.

Hidaya means precious gift, and we think that is really is
a precious gift to have the oppurtunity to be a good breeder
of such a wonderfull breed.

But unfortunnally the start of a our dream stopped, when
we had to make the hard desiccion not to breed with Jinaki,
due to behavior reasons.

It was difficult, but we always said, when we start breeding, we will do it
right and 1 of the most important fact in our breeding phillosophy is breeding
with a good character.

And because of that, we started to look for a 3rd ridgeback.
We where looking for another bitch.

But totally unexpected there he was,
"Rusty" a 11 months old beautifull livernose male,
who was looking for a new home.
And this boy walked into my heart and when I saw
the first picture, and he did not leave anymore.

So we imported this liverboy to Holland.

So we decided to give our breeding dream a break.
But for sure it is not the and of our dream, it is just the beginning.

We are happy with our 3 ridgebacks, and we will see what
future brings us...

Our whole live is about the dogs.
We never have any vacation without them.
Our jobs, have to fit with the dogs.
They mean everything to us.

And because of that Joyce want's to learn
a lot more about dogs and the breed it self.
So it means, a lot of different courses and studies,
with and without the dogs, but always about the dogs.

Because our live is all about dogs, we also learned a
lot of new people.
And some of them became real friends.

We also found a lot of new hobby's.
Every week you can find us at the coursing area, where our boy's have te time of there live.
We have our own aggility stuf, so once in a while we training with the dogs.
Of course al our dogs have obdience training with us.
We trained the dogs for long distance walk.

So as you can read our day's are filled with and about dogs.
And sometimes when the dogs are sleeping, we go out to work,
jus to earn money for... the dogfood ;-)
